Currently Bolton’s Commercial Zoning (Limited Business and Business) does not require open space or any public amenities. The proposed Village Overlay District zoning that is on for Town Meeting on May 7th, 2012 at 7:00pm does.
Open Space and Public Amenities: A minimum of 10% of publicly accessible open space is required to promote pedestrian and shopper accessibility. These areas can include amenities such as wide sidewalks/walkways, outdoor seating, patios, or courtyards, as well as landscaped/garden areas associated with these pedestrian amenities. The Overlay also encourages that sidewalks or links are designed to connect to adjacent developments to further the goal of safe pedestrian access.
